A Note to Readers
I include the national and western states maps along with the California map from the U.S. Drought Monitor for this week. As can be seen, drought continues to impact about two thirds of the country, with even some localized drought on the East Coast.
A short article on North Dakota reports on the drought in that state.
California, as we reported last week is heading into the fourth year of the present drought, with the last three years being the driest three-year period on record.
Under the section titled, “More on the Impact of the Drought on Agriculture,” are reports on the impact on agriculture, reservoir levels and wells going dry.
Then under the title, “And on More than Agriculture,” are articles on California water storage at one of the lowest points for beginning the new water year, as of October 1, and on California wells running dry.
The Colorado River crisis features a report on this week’s letter from California to the U.S. Department of the Interior from the four California water districts which receive water from the river, stating that, “they can reduce their use by one-tenth starting in 2023 in response to calls for cuts from the federal government.”
The Feature this week has two reports that discuss, first, the current global financial and economic crisis, and, second, a California candidate for the state assembly who promotes desalination and battle against the woke culture.
