Fights over water, desalination, nuclear power, with some losses– at least for now– make up the content of this week’s report.

Of course, the western drought is intensifying and the California and other states’ reservoirs reach record lows and it is still Spring time.

The big story this week is the negative vote by the California Coastal Commission to deny the permit for building a 50 million-gallons-per-day desalination plant. Read the article below to see the absurd excuses accepted by the commission. The photo accompanying the article does accurately reflect the self-identity of the environmentalist opposition. Here is that photo:

Farmers, already fallowing hundreds of thousands of acres of farm land this year, presented not only their predicament, but also what must be done to once again make the California water management system the best in the world. The article is titled, “California Growers Demand Action on State’s Water Supply.”

The battle to keep Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant open shall continue with more forces lined-up arguing why it necessary to do so, as California, with its insane energy policy, will once again face blackouts this summer and in the years to come. See page 13 for, “California says it needs more power to keep the lights on.”

That is the subject of the next article following the one on Diablo Canyon.

Meanwhile, our final item this week provides a forewarning of what is to come this summer and fall:“New Mexico wildfire rampages on as fresh blaze engulfs California mansions.”
