“Almost as soon as Donald Trump assumed the presidency, he breathed life back into NASA, an agency attacked and decimated under Obama/Biden—turned from its mission to explore and inhabit the universe to ruminating about the myth of anthropogenic climate change, a deliberate Malthusian ploy to reduce the world’s population by millions and impose a new feudal order. Now, NASA and Artemis, critical to America’s national mission and any real economic revival, are in mortal danger once again, and LaRouche PAC intends to fight back through a mass popular mobilization.”

A Note To Readers
Well, we are two weeks into the Avatar’s presidency, and already the shutting down and dismantling of the productive power of the U.S. economy is underway. The great Artemis Project of putting the first woman and a man on the Moon in 2024 is heading for indefinite delay or cancellation. The new Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack, stated at his Senate confirmation hearings this week that he wants to divert $30 billion from the Commodities Credit Corporation (which funds farmers’ sales and school lunch programs, among other practices) to carbon reduction programs.
This administration is just getting started. The above two examples do not even count the war against fossil fuels now underway.
In this week’s report
California and some of the rest of the Southwest did get some rain and snow this past week. Yes, the series of storms did impact the drought and increased the Sierra snowpack. But, to really relieve the drought another half-dozen such storms over the next two months are required. And the likelihood of that occurring does not look good.
So, there is lots of speculation on whether this state goes into its second year of drought, and perhaps a multi-year drought, or in other words, a megadrought.
The coverage below highlights these questions. And, of course, the dryness of the past months has produced an unheard of 297 wildfires in California just in January.
Farmers are already recognizing that their future is even more endangered now. Contributions from agricultural organizations make up the next section of the report. And, as one report points out, President Trump promoted water infrastructure, and the Biden administration must do the same, but I think they have little hope that he will.
As for Space Policy, as mentioned above, the Artemis Project is on the chopping block, but also the intitiatives Trump undertook to promote the development of nuclear-powered rockets and nuclear fission and fusion. We have some reports on those topics.
On the lighter side, we must allow the President for Vice, Kamala Harris, a moment here, as she tells West Virginia coal miners in an interview with a West Virgina radio station, that as the administration shuts down their jobs they can learn a new skill– “reclaiming land mines.” As one commentator put it:
“Now, I know what you’re thinking: ‘Are there really that many abandoned land mines lying around in West Virginia? Enough to make a whole job industry out of minesweeping?’ And: ‘Is it safe to go hiking there?’”
But, maybe, she just wants to send them to Afghanistan to clear mines, as there are plenty there. I am sure the miners will be thrilled with that prospect.
