If you really must have a child speaking at the UN, how about a teenager from Africa or India who believes economic growth is not a fairytale but absolutely essential to their liberation from poverty? We’ve all heard more than enough from middle-class Westerners who think economic growth is oh-so-horrible. Let’s hear from someone in the teeming billions around the world who profoundly disagree with this downbeat, anti-human, Western-centric crap.”

“Save Greta” by Brendan O’Neill

A Note to Readers

Sept. 24 (EIRNS)—It’s bad enough that a disturbed 16-year-old says the things she does. What’s worse is that Greta Thunberg has been placed on an international soap box by the City of London, Wall Street et al. to trumpet her lunacy far and wide as the gospel truth. But worse still is that it has now become unacceptable—and perhaps soon a punishable offense—to criticize Thunberg and her ravings and call them what they are….”

There will be more below in our “Feature” this week on the hysterical sideshow held at the UN on Monday, including a link to the “presentation” by Greta Thunberg.

A bigger story this week, which I did mention last week, is that the Federal Reserve is not only continuing to pump hundreds of billions into the banking system, but also announced it will do $100 billion a day for the next three weeks. That is one-half a trillion per week.

Wow! Think of all the infrastructure that could be built for that amount of money. Even though it is merely blips on the computer screen and not real, it does represent the bankruptcy of this speculative system. Perhaps the shut down of the Thomas Cook Group travel agency on Sept. 22, and the firing of 21,000 workers, is the beginning of a repeat of 2008, but bigger this time. Some coverage of all this can be found below also.

Now to our more immediate subject– water, infrastructure and all the ins and outs of not solving problems.

What’s More In This Week’s Report?

We begin with the U.S. Drought Monitor for California. Not much change from last week.

The official new water year begins on October 1, and this one ends with full reservoirs in California.

But, that does not mean all is rosy. For during the course of the last few days PG&E has shut off the power to about 50,000 customers in northern California due to high winds and the resulting high fire risk. Some have had their electricity off for three days. Several articles on the topic follow.
